IMac 21.5 2012 A1418 Intel Xeon 1280v2 3.6GHz, 16GB RAM, 1.1TB SSD Fusion Drive

  
This build was inspired by various YouTube channels, that recommend updating older Mac computers to run current MacOS builds, as well as fully upgrading the available hardware. This enables these older Mac computers to enjoy near modern amenities, and performance. This particular model, I was able to go "all in". I sourced a compatible Xeon processor, the 1280v2 running at 3.6GHz!

It has a turbo speed of 4.0GHz, and does not consume any more power than the original i5. This gives the machine performance that is more like the 2015 model, equipped with an i7.

The Apple System report will identify the processor as an i5 (with microcode that allows the system to boot), but GeekBench and other benchmarking software will correctly identify it as the Xeon. It has 16GB of RAM, and this motherboard has an M2 SSD slot, which I populated. The full specs are as follows. NVidia 640M Dedicated 3D accelerator.

1.1TB Fusion SATA SSD + M2 SSD. Bluetooth/802.11ac/FaceTime camera/1Gbps Ethernet/USB 3 4/SD card reader/stereo speakers.

This model runs MacOS12.6 via Dortania's OpenCore Legacy Patcher, and has been updated. This machine would make a good first computer for a young student, or for anyone else looking for an entry into the Apple "ecosphere". Windows 10 can be installed via Bootcamp onto an external drive with some effort. Feel free to make an offer on this computer, as no reasonable one will be refused. The listing includes a power cable, and an USB recovery install for MacOS 10.15 (Catalina).

No keyboard or mouse will be included. I consider this iMac to be in "very good" (B+/A-) condition with some scratches, minor deformations. From 3ft, except the (photographed) foot scratches, the defects and such are unremarkable..
